PlayStation Vue is a new streaming service that offers an affordable alternative to cable and Satellite TV, including DVR functionality. Here’s our review.
PlayStation Vue is a live HDTV streaming service that was launched by Sony in 2015. It is essentially an alternative to paying for an expensive cable or satellite TV package with package fees, equipment rental, HD fees, etc.
You pay one low monthly fee for Vue (anywhere from $29.99-$49.99 in my area, slightly more in some areas), and in return you get anywhere from 55-100+ channels of live TV entertainment, depending on which package you buy. Even in the basic package you’ll get channels like Fox News, CNN, TNT, CBS, FOX, Disney, Nickelodeon, ESPN, AMC, HGTV, Discovery and more.
Vue is a month to month subscription service, so you aren’t required to sign a contract like you are with some cable TV providers. You can cancel at any time, and with a 7-day free trial, you can make sure that you like the service before jumping in full force.
Here are the devices that currently have apps available for watching PlayStation Vue.
Amazon Fire TV
Amazon Fire TV Stick (what I use.)
Roku Streaming Stick
I currently use the service on my living room Fire TV (2nd Gen) box, basedment Fire TV (1st Gen) and on a Fire TV stick (1st Gen). It runs extremely smooth on the Fire TV boxes, and decent, but a bit laggy on the Fire TV stick.
